Birch tree of hope

Birch trees remind us of hope and new beginnings.

They are one of the first trees which start to regrow their leaves in spring. They regrow in areas where was destruction. They have the ability to grow in places where it’s hard to survive.

Birch trees remind me with their white bark of a blank canvas, of new possibilities to create, a fresh start.

The birch tree is a symbol of rebirth, of new beginnings after the depths of winter, and although we are still in the midst of winter season, these trees radiate a sense of hope for light, of hope for the joy of spring.

Birch trees are also connected to water. They have a strong flow of water through their trunks and branches. The ‘water’ of birches has a detoxifying effect and helps the water in our bodies to flow.

Water is life in flow, new beginnings are the start of a new flow, a new circle. The birch tree can be a symbol of hope after a phase of transformation, of regrowing after difficult times, of reconnecting to your soul.

“I wonder what a soul … a person’s soul … would look like,’ said Priscilla dreamily.
‘Like that, I should think,’ answered Anne, pointing to a radiance of sifted sunlight streaming through a birch tree. ‘Only with shape and features of course. I like to fancy souls as being made of light. And some are all shot through with rosy stains and quivers … and some have a soft glitter like moonlight on the sea … and some are pale and transparent like mist at dawn.”
