Drop of connection

This is a text I wrote as a writing prompt from the book:“The very short story starter for creative writing“ by John Gillard.

The writing prompt:

„Write a stream of consciousness… using the quote below as an initial spark of inspiration.“

„Let the world burn through you. Throw the prism light, white hot, on paper.“

– Ray Bradbury

Drop of connection

I’m sitting here, starring out of the window and watching how the rain falls, how little rain drops fall onto the leafless branches.

It’s grey and cold and I avoid to write.

Thoughts of having nothing to say run through my mind. Is there even something meaningful to say? Can I let the world burn through me and throw it on paper? Through me who feels inappropriate to do this? Who do I think I am, someone who writes a prism of light?

I’m a tiny drop in the ocean, like the rain drops falling on the ground. Is there a breakthrough in the clouds? Is there a light coming through?

Every drop nourishes the earth, builds the ocean. Every drop builds your body, adds to the flow of life. Every drop nourishes the soul and creates transformation. Every drop is through this connection a part of the world, a part of the whole. Every drop creates oneness.

Every word is a drop. So let it rain and be patient. The light will break through the clouds and then every drop becomes the ocean. Every drop becomes a prism of light.
